Community History

Cheltenham entered the South West Bangladeshi story through the restaurant trade. Eurasia was operating by 1971, and in 1977 Shamsul and Seleha Krori opened The Curry Corner on Fairview Road, a family business that would gain national recognition decades later. Like many towns in the region, Cheltenham's Bangladeshi presence was public long before it was demographically large, with restaurants serving as the first anchors of settlement, reputation, and continuity.
