Biography
Mujibur Rahman was one of the founding members of the Bangladesh Association in Bristol and served as its first Treasurer. In 1966 he founded the Star of India in Bristol city centre, and later brought his cousin Mashuk into the business. In 1983 they opened the Curry House in Brislington, a restaurant that continues to operate today through Mashuk Miah's family. In the association's earliest years, he and fellow pioneers often met in restaurants to discuss how to bring the community together, reduce isolation, and create practical services that would give Bangladeshi settlers a stronger sense of belonging.
