Biography
Ismail Azad was one of the key Birmingham organisers of the 1971 liberation movement. As Treasurer of the Birmingham Bangladesh Action Committee, he oversaw fundraising for refugees and the liberation struggle at a moment when trust, accountability, and speed all mattered. He was also among the early activists whose organising in Birmingham predated the war itself through the East Pakistan Liberation Front.
